Why we built this

Last reviewed: June 2026

martynslaw.app is built and run by We Share The Same Sky Ltd, a Birmingham company — by people who run a real, publicly accessible venue and face the same preparation for Martyn’s Law as everyone else. We built the tool we wanted ourselves: a plain-English way to work out whether a venue is in scope, which tier applies, and what to actually do about it — without paying for a certificate that nobody can issue.

That operator background is the whole point. We are not a security consultancy selling assessments; we run a venue, so the checklists are written for the person actually doing the work — the duty manager, the licensee, the events lead — not for a compliance auditor.

How we keep it accurate

Everything we publish is grounded in primary sources, and we say which one each statement rests on. We track the official sources daily and update the site when they change. The sources we work from:

What this is — and what it is not

martynslaw.app is a preparation and document-management tool. It is not legal advice, not official guidance, not official certification, not SIA approval and not a guarantee of compliance. The responsible person must review and approve all documents before use.
